Provides leadership and oversight to the Category Management / Merchandising function, including strategy development, innovation, and execution of marketplace differentiators, key supplier partnerships, and team development.

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Senior Team Leader, Category Merchant. This role will be responsible for the financial performance of the Category Management / Merchandising function, including strategic and operational decisions related to category management, purchasing, procurement, and retail operations.

This role is based in Barbican, London, with an expectation of being in the Store Support office five days a week.


Responsibilities:

* Accountable for the financial performance of high-volume, complex categories.
* Drive change and support WFM evolution to Category Management.
* Develop category strategies based on financial expectations, customer trends, and competitive landscape.
* Plan and execute promotional activities and react to sales performance and market changes.
* Set pricing strategies and develop tactics to meet financial and customer objectives.
* Analyze category performance, trends, and competition.
* Build strategic relationships with key suppliers for early insight into trends, exclusive products, and competitive costs.
* Translate assortment plans into merchandising plans and planograms.
* Collaborate on marketing and promotional events, integrating branded and exclusive programs.
* Ensure effective space planning and analytical reporting.
* Lead vendor negotiations and pricing analysis.
* Provide leadership and development to team members and merchandising leaders.
* Engage with stores to drive programs, sales, and financial success.


Skills:

* Leadership and strategic oversight skills.
* Ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
* Strong communication, risk assessment, and project planning skills.
* Data-driven decision-making and understanding of supply chain, customer, and market dynamics.


Education & Experience:

* BA/BS degree and 6-8 years’ relevant experience or equivalent.
* 2-4 years of leadership experience with multiple direct reports.

The salary range is £70,600 - £120,020 annually, depending on experience.
