JOB – Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION – Manchester
TERM – Permanent
SALARY – £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
My client design and manufacture high-tech products for a global client base. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with knowledge of manufacturing principles to join their team in Chester on a permanent basis.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
* 4 or more years’ of experience working in a similar Mechanical Design position
* Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similarBe proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor etc.
* Strong experience with R&D, testing, prototype development, DFM etc.
* Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
* Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
* Good knowledge of different metal materials, manufacturing techniques and machining processes
* Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
* Experience with SAP software
* Knowledge of Continuous improvement
* Experience with process management would also be beneficial
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
* Proficient using MS Office
* Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
* Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
* Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
* Completing detailing, documentation and assembly drawings
* Liaising with manufacturing providers
* Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
* Being involved in final assembly of products
* Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
* Updating 3D models and drawings
* Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
* Checking drawings for sign off
* Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
