Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in CAMHS10 PAs

Exeter (Locality Based Community Consultant Role)

This is an exciting opportunity to join Children and FamilyHealth Devon as a locality based Community Consultant Childand Adolescent Psychiatrist for Exeter. The post is based within a vibrant,multidisciplinary CAMHS service and offers the opportunity to developpsychiatry practice and pursue special interests while benefiting from all thatDevon has to offer.

This is a community consultant role working across mentalhealth pathways, which include the Managing Mood and Relationships, ManagingEating and Urgent Care. Applications arewelcomed from candidates wishing to work less than full time.

The Location

The post is based within the Exeter locality, working fromestablished CAMHS bases including Evergreen House, and collaborating closelywith consultant colleagues and multidisciplinary teams across the city andsurrounding area.


Main duties of the job

This role would suit a consultant who enjoys broad communityand pathway-based work, values multidisciplinary collaboration, andis interested in contributing to clinical leadership and service development. About Us

You will be joining a CQC rated Good service with a strong and established consultant workforceacross Devon and Torbay. Devon CAMHS is part of Children and Family HealthDevon, an integrated service bringing together health, social care, andeducation provision for children and young people. The service operates apathway-basedmodel, ensuring equity of access and consistency of care across the county,informed by NICE guidance and current evidence. We are a large and progressiveCAMHS service that values diversity, participation, and continuous serviceimprovement, and we actively support consultants to develop special interestsand take on medical and clinical leadership roles within areas of expertise,working closely with consultant colleagues across pathways.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
* MRCPsych OR equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Evidence of sub-speciality or other specific training, e.g. systemic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy
* CCT Child and Adolescent Psychiatry


Research

* Management training / experience.
* Experience of involvement in service development.
* Aptitude for and practical experience of research.


Aptitudes and Values

* Evidence of ability to exercise leadership in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to work collaboratively with other clinical teams.
* A team player able to inspire and support staff at all levels of training and across professional disciplines.
* A commitment to continuing professional development.
* A commitment to multidisciplinary and multi-agency working.
* A commitment to respect, inclusiveness and diversity
* Evidence of new ideas in service delivery.
* A track record of implementing service initiatives.
* A track record of team leadership or collaboration with other agencies.


Management

* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and managers.
* Awareness of NHS management and funding arrangements.
* Management training / experience.
* Experience of involvement in service development.


Experience

* Prior experience working in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team.
* Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings, especially the community.
* Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance.
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
* Clinical experience in a range of services within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
* To hold Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
* Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview
* Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* CCT in Child and adolescent / developmental psychiatry.


Teaching and Supervision

* Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
* Evidence of additional teaching skills.
* Experience as a lecturer or supervisor.
* Experience in Clinical Supervision.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
