We’re expanding our team and are looking for more Nurses to join our charity. You’ll be joining an award-winning, certified Outstanding team, who do all they can to empower children and families to experience as much life as possible.
As a member of the Noah’s Ark Nurse and Specialist Care team, you’ll be encouraged to put the experience of children and families at the heart of all you do. You’ll understand their care needs and get to know what’s important to each child you support — whether it’s their favorite song, how they like to play, or what soothes them when they are sad. At Noah’s Ark, it’s vital that each child is treated as an individual. You’ll focus on what children can do, rather than their limitations, and support them to experience things they may never have thought possible.
By providing care at our state-of-the-art building, The Ark, or out in the community, you’ll enable parents and carers to take some time for themselves. The hours you work will make a significant difference, giving families the opportunity to live life beyond their child’s condition. By creating this time, you’ll be creating choice — something that can feel impossible for the families we support.
Main duties of the job
You’ll be an experienced Band 5 Nurse with excellent clinical and communication skills. You’ll work collaboratively, with experience leading a multi-skilled team or demonstrable leadership with support from a lead nurse.
We seek individuals who share our core values of kindness, excellence, and courage. We’ll support you to go above and beyond for the children and families we serve — we ask that you share this mission.
You’ll thrive working autonomously, confident in delivering care independently in the community. You’ll value collaboration, working closely with team members, healthcare professionals, and families to provide the best possible care.
Creativity and play will be central to your approach, with the ability to build long-term relationships with children and families. You’ll be qualified in Children’s Nursing and have completed your nursing preceptorship.
About us
Designed by families, for families, The Ark opened in September 2019 by the Mayor of London. The grounds feature wheelchair-accessible outdoor experiences, including a Woodland Walk through a 7-acre nature reserve, a hydrotherapy pool, and overnight suites for families to stay close to their loved ones. We provide specialist care and nursing for babies, children, and young people, supporting their clinical, emotional, social, and practical needs. We have created a space where children who are seriously unwell are accepted as they are, safe to play, explore, express themselves, and build confidence.
Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, the charity has experienced sustained growth over the last two years, and we are looking for high-quality employees to join us.
Our staff and volunteers provide clinical, emotional, and practical support for families across North and Central London and Herts Valley. We tailor our support to each child and offer it where needed — in their home, community, or at our state-of-the-art children’s hospice, The Ark, in Barnet.
Job responsibilities
We need paediatric nurses to help seriously unwell babies, children, and young people make the most of each day. We seek nurses eager to spend more time with their patients. You’ll be based at The Ark, a beautiful new building in a north London nature reserve, a place of laughter, play, and genuine connection, with a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
Joining our Specialist Care Team, you will care for children staying at The Ark and those visiting for day care. Supporting families with choice is central to our care model, so you will also support children in their family homes and community settings.
About you
You will be an experienced or senior Band 5 nurse, looking to develop your skills in the hospice sector. You should have excellent clinical and communication skills, be creative, and passionate about making a positive difference.
See attached job description for more details about this opportunity.
An enhanced DBS disclosure with Child Barring will be required. Our recruitment checks, induction, support, and supervision reflect our commitment to safeguarding.
