Job Description: Brickwork Teacher (Level 1 & 2)
Location: M11
Hours: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: £28 per hour (PAYE) or £34 per hour (Self-Employed)
Role Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Brickwork Lecturer to deliver high-quality teaching and training to students studying Level 1 and Level 2 Bricklaying. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing learners’ practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and employability within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in bricklaying for Level 1 and Level 2 students
* Teach practical and theoretical aspects of brickwork, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards
* Assess student progress through coursework, practical assessments, and examinations
* Provide constructive feedback and support to help learners achieve their full potential
* Maintain a safe and inclusive workshop/classroom environment in line with health and safety regulations
* Track attendance, progress, and achievement in line with college procedures
* Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of the brickwork programme
* Participate in team meetings, staff development, and quality assurance processes
Requirements
* Minimum of 6 months teaching experience in the UK, delivering to 16–18 year olds and/or adult learners in a similar role
* A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent)
* Industry experience and recognised qualifications in Bricklaying/Construction
* Strong knowledge of Level 1 and Level 2 brickwork standards and practices
* Excellent communication and classroom management skills
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
Desirable
* Experience working within a further education college or training provider
* Assessor qualification (e.g., A1 or TAQA)
* Up-to-date knowledge of construction industry practices
