Dedicated to fostering economic growth and innovation in Oxfordshire, with a history of successful initiatives like the City Deal and Local Growth Fund, contributing over £1 billion to the local economy and securing an additional £2.3 billion in investments. It oversees a range of business, skills, investment, and trade support services, aiming to realize Oxfordshire’s economic potential sustainably and inclusively.
Role Overview
As Board Chair, you will energize and lead their newly established Board, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and acting as a high-level advocate regionally, nationally, and internationally. You will oversee the delivery of the Oxfordshire Strategic Economic Plan and drive prosperity through the Local Industrial Strategy and Economic Recovery Plan.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strong leadership to the Board.
* Represent the organisation at external high-profile events and advocate for Oxfordshire's economy.
* Engage in negotiations with government, business, and community influencers to promote regional growth.
Candidate Profile
* Ideally reside and work in Oxfordshire.
* Significant experience leading SMEs and/or large businesses.
* Influential and persuasive business leader with a high profile in Oxfordshire.
* Strategic vision with understanding of Oxfordshire’s economic drivers and challenges.
* Ability to influence stakeholders across sectors.
* Proven track record of engaging and supporting communities.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Commitment
* 20-30 days per year initially, including meetings and external events.
* Minimum three-year term with possible extension.
* Unremunerated, with expenses covered.
