Job Title: Process Chemist
Location: Grangemouth
Pay Rate: £17.62 – £24.04 per hour (dependent on seniority, skills, and experience)
Contract Length: 12 Months
Overview
We are seeking Process Chemists (Research Scientist 3 level) to support a special project within a manufacturing and process development environment. This role will focus on laboratory-based process development, optimisation, and technical problem-solving to support manufacturing operations and supply activities.
Key Responsibilities
Process Development & Optimisation
Plan and execute laboratory work to develop, test, and optimise new and existing manufacturing processes.
Ensure processes meet agreed technical, quality, and performance targets.
Technical Expertise & Support
Provide expert process chemistry input to Process Development, Supply Chain, and project teams.
Support the preparation and execution of development plans and manufacturing trials.
Problem Solving
Proactively advise and support manufacturing and development teams in resolving process issues.
Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
Carry out all activities in strict compliance with site, company, and regulatory requirements.
Promote and continuously improve safe working practices.
Data Management & Reporting
Ensure accurate storage and management of experimental and project data.
Prepare clear, high-quality technical reports to document experimental work and outcomes.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Significant experience in process development chemistry, including:
Data analysis (statistics and experimental design)
Scale-up activities
Manufacturing support
Strong hands-on laboratory and analytical experience.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical challenges.
Key Capabilities
Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to varied audiences.
Ability to build strong internal networks and contribute positively within cross-functional teams.
Strong physico-chemical understanding and ability to apply theory to practical process development, using specialist data analysis tools.
Education
Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry is essential.
A PhD is advantageous.
Several years' experience in a Process Chemistry role is expected.
