Position
0.5 WTE Band 8b Senior Principle Applied Psychologist – Permanent – Lothian Substance Use Service, Edinburgh.
Responsibilities
* Lead delivery of psychological therapies within the Edinburgh substance misuse counselling services.
* Develop a plan for the delivery of psychological therapies and support its implementation through staff training, supervision, consultancy work and direct clinical work.
* Act as part of the substance use psychology leadership team, supporting the clinical lead by line managing and supervising psychologists in the team.
* Oversee psychology service delivery within designated substance use service areas (e.g., Edinburgh Recovery Hubs).
* Be responsible for role/service development, service evaluation and research.
Post may be offered as a job share or on a reduced hours basis; salary will be pro‑rata.
Requirements
Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and possession of relevant visa/immigration status. Applicants must have PVG Scheme membership or record; if not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group, an application will be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before beginning in post. Due to legislative changes effective 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, appointment will be subject to the PVG Scheme. Any changes to current requirements will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
