Position Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions. The role is a 12‑month fixed‑term, full‑time (40 hours) post based at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Royal Hospital for Children. Working Monday to Friday, the successful candidate will also join the on‑call rota.
Key Responsibilities
* Address both outpatient and inpatient waiting lists for paediatric plastic surgery.
* Undertake outpatient clinics and general or local anaesthetic cases at the Royal Hospital for Children.
* Collaborate with the team of seven substantive consultants who currently provide elective paediatric practice.
* Commit to the full on‑call rota, covering major trauma, hand surgery and the National Burns service.
* Apply expertise in paediatric hand surgery, vascular malformation management and laser techniques.
Required Experience & Qualifications
* Training and experience in general paediatric plastic surgery.
* Experience in paediatric hand surgery is expected.
* Experience in vascular malformations and laser work is advantageous.
* Ability to work independently within the 12‑month fixed‑term contract and to meet the demands of an intensive rota.
