What you'll be doing;
Lead and manage landfill operations team, ensuring compliance with site rules for all staff, visitors, and contractors while deputizing for Landfill Manager when required
Promote and maintain a proactive safety culture by demonstrating positive behaviors, supporting management team, and ensuring proper training, induction, and monitoring of all site personnel
Oversee waste reception, acceptance, and disposal operations while controlling day-to-day site activities
Ensure full compliance with Environmental Permit, Discharge Consent, VMR, ISO standards, and management plans (including Leachate and Gas Management), implementing action plans for non-compliance issues
Achieve operational targets for Risk & Assurance performance, report all accidents and incidents on AVA, and manage abnormal and emergency situations effectively
Collaborate with Landfill Technical Support teams (Surveyors, Engineering, Aftercare, Gas Management) and act as Issuing Authority for Permits to Work
Deliver excellent customer service, maintain site administration, and build strong relationships with neighbors, local councils, regulators (EA/HSE), and internal/external stakeholders
Facilitate regulatory authority visits, organize stakeholder visits, provide required on-site attendance as CoTC/CMS holder, and pursue personal development to enhance professional knowledge and skills
What we're looking for;
Relevant yellow plant experience
Previous Experience of managing in the waste industry preferably within landfill and/or hazardous waste
Appropriate COTC, or to work towards our equivalent qualification
Environmental / Science qualification or equivalent
Experience gained in managing financial aspects of Landfill Management
Ability to make decisions quickly and efficiently while exercising sound judgement.
Experience in developing strategies to minimise environmental impact.
Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices.
Current driving licence is essential for this position
