We are seeking a dedicated Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join the multidisciplinary team in Leicester, supporting individuals with acquired brain injuries and complex rehabilitation needs.

Providing a safe and therapeutic environment supporting individuals on their brain injury rehabilitation journey.
We specialise in supporting people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), which may result from infection, disease, lack of oxygen, or traumatic injury. Our goal is to ensure individuals remain in inpatient rehabilitation only as long as clinically necessary, working closely with community teams to enable safe and successful discharge.

🎯 The Role
As Speech and Language Therapist, you will:
Assess, diagnose and manage communication and swallowing disorders linked to neurological and complex conditions
Manage a defined caseload, prioritising referrals appropriately
Develop and implement individualised, goal-oriented intervention plans
Deliver evidence-based therapy for speech, language, cognitive-communication and dysphagia
Undertake dysphagia assessments and contribute to risk management planning
Provide specialist recommendations on eating, drinking and swallowing safety
Act as an advocate for individuals with communication needs during MDT meetings and ward rounds
Contribute to discharge planning and continuity of care
Maintain high-quality, contemporaneous documentation
Participate in clinical governance, audits and service development
You will play a key role in promoting safe communication practices across the service and supporting colleagues to enhance inclusive, communication-friendly care.
🩺 Dysphagia & Clinical Governance
You will:
Identify, assess and manage dysphagia risks in line with professional guidance
Contribute to capacity, best interest and risk-related discussions
Apply evidence-based approaches including supported communication and risk feeding where appropriate
Escalate safeguarding or clinical concerns promptly
Ensure compliance with professional, legal and organisational standards
👩⚕️ About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
Be HCPC registered as a Speech and Language Therapist
Have experience (or strong interest) in neurological and complex rehabilitation
Demonstrate knowledge of communication disorders and dysphagia management
Be confident working within a multidisciplinary team
Have strong clinical reasoning and documentation skills
Be committed to CPD, supervision and reflective practice
Demonstrate compassion, professionalism and excellent communication skills
Experience in ABI or complex rehabilitation is desirable but not essential for the right candidate with relevant transferable skills.
