Role: Contract Delivery Lead Contract Type: Permanent Location: London Marylebone OR Birmingham Moor Street / Hybrid Working – you should be comfortable working in a Chiltern location 3 days a week. Salary: Up to £50,000 pet annum Job Purpose The Contract Delivery Lead plays a key role in making sure Chiltern successfully delivers our National Rail Contract (NRC) with the Department for Transport (DfT). The role sits within the Business Planning team at Chiltern, giving you great insight and exposure to all of the departments right across our business and meaning you will engage regularly with a range of stakeholders including internal colleagues, the DfT, and other industry partners. You will be the go-to person for colleagues looking for help in interpreting the conditions of the National Rail Contract and be able respond to any questions they may have in a way that’s clear and simple to understand. You should be someone who takes pride in being organised and works with a keen eye for detail. Being able to communicate well is also crucial to this role given the wide range of internal and external stakeholders you will engage with. The Business Planning environment is varied and fast-moving and you will have the opportunity to grow your network, collaborate and contribute to the range of different workstreams and challenges that the team faces. Who would be well-suited to this role? The Contract Delivery Lead role is a great opportunity for someone who has experience working with complex written documents and an understanding of the structure of the rail industry. You might be someone who’s education has given them a good understanding of documentation with legal wording, or someone who’s previous work experience has often required you to digest complex information. You could be someone ambitious working in the railway sector in a similar role, but in a large team without as much individual responsibility or opportunity for growth. Previous experience of working in a contractual environment would be advantageous. Key Accountabilities * Develop a strong understanding of the National Rail Contract and DfT Procurement protocols and be able to offer guidance on these to colleagues. * Build a good relationship with DfT colleagues and represent Chiltern and its interests in a professional and collaborative way, whilst being commercially aware. * Collate information from across the business and produce responses to DfT queries and requests to a high standard within the required timescales. * Support the Annual Business Planning process, making sure Chiltern fulfils all the requirements of DfT’s Request for Business Plan. * With support from the Contract Administrator, make sure that Chiltern has a comprehensive record of any amendments to the NRC or other contractual documents, and ensure that Chiltern has provided evidence that all contractual obligations have been met. * Learn the roles and responsibilities of the other members of the Business Planning team so that you can cover any absences and work interchangeably. Person Specification Essential: * Ability to interpret complex legal and contractual documents and communicate clearly the meaning and implications of them to colleagues. * Previous experience of and/or a keen interest in the railway. * An understanding of the interactions between Train Operating Companies (TOCs) and other industry organisations and regulatory bodies. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders. * Ability to use own initiative with a positive and proactive attitude and a strong focus on team collaboration. * Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel. Desirable: * Knowledge of systems such as Corestream and Jaggaer. * Understanding of the rail industry contractual framework
