Overview
We have a vacancy for a full-time Decontamination Technician to work with the Hospital's Sterilization and Disinfection Unit (HSDU) at the Royal Oldham Hospital, which is part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. Shift Pattern Available: 3pm-11pm (Monday - Thursday), 2.30pm-10.30pm (Friday).
Responsibilities
* Undertake decontamination science duties and assist (under supervision) the Decontamination Production Managers and Supervisors in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.
* Receive, disassemble, clean, reassemble, pack and sterilise reusable medical devices. Record all tasks in the Healthcare Science Information Systems (tracking and tracing) database.
* Work in accordance with the Department's Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems.
* Plan your own workload with limited supervision.
* Note: the role involves exposure to blood and body fluids.
Qualifications
* Essential: GCSE in English, Maths and Science at Grade C or above, a level 2 vocational qualification or equivalent level of knowledge.
Experience & Knowledge
* Essential: Working knowledge of keyboard, typing and computer skills; experience of applying concentration during repetitive tasks.
* Desirable: Experience in a healthcare setting; knowledge and experience in decontamination or infection prevention.
Skills
* Essential: Ability to work as part of a team; ability to work accurately under pressure; ability to follow detailed instructions and work to Standard Operating Procedures; attention to detail.
