Summary
OXBO is partnered with a high-growth renewable energy platform seeking to appoint a Director of Development to lead private wire Solar PV development throughout across the UK.
Our client is a well-capitalised clean energy developer and IPP, actively scaling its UK C&I platform. With funding secured and a growing delivery capability, they are now focused on building a strong private wire pipeline with large commercial and industrial energy users.
Responsibilities
* Lead origination and development of C&I solar (and storage) projects from greenfield through Notice to Proceed (NTP).
* Build and manage a high-quality pipeline aligned with company growth targets.
* Source and negotiate PPAs, ESAs, site control agreements, and key commercial contracts.
* Develop and maintain relationships with C&I customers, brokers, and strategic partners.
* Oversee financial modeling and project economics to ensure bankable, target returns.
* Manage permitting, interconnection, and technical due diligence processes.
* Drive projects to Ready-to-Build (RTB) and NTP on schedule and within budget.
* Coordinate cross-functionally with finance, legal, EPC, and asset management teams.
* Identify and mitigate development risks (regulatory, grid, commercial, environmental).
* Lead and mentor development team members.
* Report pipeline progress, investment cases, and KPIs to executive leadership.
Qualifications
* 8–12+ years of experience in renewable energy or power project development.
* Proven track record of advancing solar (and/or storage) projects to RTB or NTP.
* Strong experience negotiating commercial agreements (PPAs, leases, land agreements, EPC support).
* Solid understanding of project finance fundamentals and financial modeling.
* Experience managing permitting, interconnection, and site control processes.
* Ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder negotiations.
* Strong commercial acumen and risk assessment capability.
* Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
* Experience in C&I / distributed generation markets.
* Experience with solar + storage projects.
* Existing network with corporate off-takers, utilities, or financing partners
