As a Systems Engineer at ghd, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex products in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The role provides an exciting opportunity to pioneer the development of early-stage prototypes alongside an industry leading team of engineers and scientists.
LOCATION
This role will be based in our Cambridge office.
JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Hands-On Skills: Utilise hands-on skills to build, test, and troubleshoot complex systems.
* Inquisitive and Questioning: Demonstrate curiosity and the ability to ask critical questions to ensure a deep understanding of project requirements.
* Separation of Concerns and System Decomposition: Break down complex systems into manageable components, ensuring clear separation of concerns and facilitating efficient system design.
* Engineering and prototyping: Design and build functional prototypes to validate concepts and technologies. Conduct feasibility studies and proof-of-concept experiments for new technologies (e.g., heating elements, sensors, power systems). Utilize CAD software to model components and assemblies.
* Understanding Data: Analyse and interpret data to make informed decisions and recommendations for system improvements.
* CAD & Modelling: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and modelling tools to create detailed system designs and prototyheapes.
* Simulation: Using a first principal understanding of thermal or fluid systems and tools like spreadsheets, FEA or CDF build digital models of subsystems to reduce the time from theory to a quality outcome.
REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
* 2 years’ experience or more in a similar role, preferably in consumer electronics or handheld devices.
* Ability to integrate heating, sensing & control methods as part of a mechanical and/or electronic system to create novel early-stage technologies and concepts.
* Experience designing, building, and testing electromechanical prototypes.
* Experience working in lab environment.
* CAD skills (ideally Solidworks and/or Creo).
* At least 2 years of experience with at least one FEA software package: ANSYS, ANSA, Abaqus and or related software (Ideally ANSYS).
* Fluency in Python.
* Statistical data analysis.
