Job Title: Newborn Hearing Screener
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly Newborn Hearing Screening team at CHFT. The ideal candidate will have experience working with the public, especially parents and babies, and be confident with computers.
Position Details:
* Part-time, 30 hours per week, including regular weekends and Bank Holidays at an enhanced pay rate.
* Primarily based at Calderdale Hospital, with occasional work at other sites or outpatient clinics.
We offer a comprehensive induction, including service-specific training and support to complete an external competency assessment. The role requires undertaking a Level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners to become a qualified Newborn Hearing Screener, which involves written, oral, and practical assessments to be completed within 12 months of enrolment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identify babies requiring screening.
2. Effectively liaise with parents, NHSP members, and healthcare professionals.
3. Offer AOAE or AABR screening tests and obtain informed verbal consent.
4. Carry out hearing screenings and accurately record data.
5. Promote a professional, welcoming, and family-friendly environment.
6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NHSP procedures and protocols.
7. Ensure confidentiality, safety, and security of equipment, reporting issues promptly.
8. Respect babies' and families' dignity, privacy, and individuality.
9. Be aware of safeguarding procedures.
10. Undertake the Nation's Newborn Hearing Screening Diploma.
11. Coordinate with SCBU staff to identify discharged babies needing screening.
12. Ensure all eligible babies are screened before discharge and refer any who fail or are not eligible.
13. Proficient in IT systems like Microsoft Office.
