You will be working in the Infrastructure OU where our Infrastructure team brings design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide – combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.
As part of National Highways' Lower Thames Crossing, we're delivering preliminary works for the Kent Roads section — 6 km of new road, Europe's widest green bridge, a public park and 12 miles of pathways. This landmark project will pioneer low‑carbon construction techniques while creating local jobs, boosting skills and connecting communities across Kent and Essex via the UK's longest road tunnel.
We are currently looking for a Site Engineer who will support the delivery of pre-construction elements in advance of works commencing.
As the Site Engineer, you will:
Work with Section teams planning and producing sketches and methodologies for relevant plans and procedures for mobilising.
Set up work sites with the General Foreman/Works Manager.
Work with the subcontractor to ensure the timely preparation Risk Assessment Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, Permits, Consents for the works.
Day to day work site coordination and planning to ensure the works are carried out safely and efficiently and requisitioning resources.
The management of non-conformance reporting and managing the nonconformances on site until complete.
We are looking for:
Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering and relevant CSCS Card.
Knowledge of construction techniques, sequencing and best practice, demonstrating experience on Highways Infrastructure projects.
Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, Auto CAD).
Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management.
Capable of working independently and proactively to progress works but also skilled at working collaboratively with other integrated team members and external stakeholders for the overall benefit of the project.
