Perth and Kinross Council is looking for staff to support our workforce across the area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to step into the profession and progress a career in childcare, gaining experience while being supported to gain a childcare qualification.
Role Responsibilities
As a Play Assistant, you will assist in providing high-quality play experiences within Kids Clubs and Wraparound Care. You will help deliver a range of stimulating and creative activities suitable for children aged 3 to 14 years, including arts and crafts, storytelling, den building, and physical play.
You will work within a team, contributing to children's learning and development in a safe, inclusive environment outside school hours in a registered childcare setting. Supply work offers flexibility to fit around other jobs and allows you to choose your hours and locations. Placements can be term-time only or during school holidays.
Skills & Experience Required
No formal qualifications are required initially; however, you will be supported to work towards qualifications such as:
* NC Early Education and Childcare
* SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Social Services (Children & Young People)
* HNC Early Education and Childcare
* SVQ Level 3 Playwork
You must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for Day Care of Children within 3 months of employment and maintain your membership.
Ideal candidates will have a genuine interest in working with children, possess skills in areas such as sports, drama, arts, music, storytelling, outdoor activities, and games, and demonstrate qualities of kindness, patience, sensitivity, respect, and confidentiality.
