Overview
Shift Maintenance Engineer (Multiskilled) based in Batley, Kirklees, West Yorkshire. Focuses on machine maintenance for specialized equipment, including flow wrapping, pick and place robotics, and secondary and tertiary packaging machinery. Collaborative role within a four-person team under the Engineering Team Leader to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency on production lines, with ownership of designated areas and driving continuous improvement through digitalised analysis.
Responsibilities
* Perform fault diagnosis leading to resolution of random failures on production machinery, identifying root causes in the repair process.
* Determine when and which technical issues should be escalated to the days support organisation.
* Provide technical experience/expertise/information to assist others in resolving equipment issues.
* Ensure safe and required delivery of all services into and out of the factory during shift (including steam, air, water, gas and electricity).
* Plan maintenance activities for self and others to achieve smooth transition between maintenance and production availability of equipment.
* With the area engineer, ensure the right planned preventative maintenance is completed.
What we are looking for
* Solid foundation in engineering built through a recognized apprenticeship.
* HNC level in electrical engineering and strong mechanical aptitude.
* Proven knowledge of 415v distribution, motor control, PLC software, process control philosophies, level 2 systems & networks; pneumatics & hydraulics would be an advantage.
* Understanding of a broad range of electromechanical devices.
* Reasonable working knowledge of health & safety regulations.
* Computer literate with familiarity in Atlas PM, SAP and Microsoft packages.
* FMCG experience desirable.
* Working knowledge in Rockwell PLC including fault finding and diagnosing desirable.
Key qualifications
* Apprenticeship in engineering or equivalent
* HNC in electrical engineering (or related field) and mechanical aptitude
* Experience with PLCs, process control, and electrical distribution
Shift pattern and terms
* Shifts: 12 hours, 7-7
* Rotation: 2 days 2 nights (5 off), 2 days 3 nights (4 off), 3 days 2 nights (5 off), with rotation restarting
* Permanent position
* Salary: £50,400 - £56,700 (inclusive of shift allowance) dependent on experience
