Job Description
The Role:
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
Support the physical testing teams in the preparation and testing of samples for physical, footwear and flammability test methods. The technician will be required to follow and maintain ISO 17025 quality procedures to ensure traceability is maintained and accurate data is reported to clients.
Main duties:
1. Preparation and testing of leathers, textiles and polymers using a wide range of standard physical test methods.
2. Preparation and testing of the durability of shoes and shoe components using a range of standard physical test methods.
3. Conduct flammability testing using standard test methods.
4. Review work as it is booked into the laboratory, to ensure that the correct testing has been selected and specifications can be followed.
5. Collate testing data to produce technical reports.
6. To undertake technical peer review and countersign reports.
7. Shoe fitting assessments using models at local nurseries, schools and clubs, training provided.
8. Maintaining our accreditation scope by undertaking quality tasks and routinely complying with all ISO 17025 requirements by demonstrating full compliance with the published methods during UKAS audits.
9. Supporting the commercial teams with technical enquiries from customers.
10. Maintaining equipment and a clean and tidy laboratory.
11. Assisting with any other reasonable duties required by the business.
Qualifications
What We Are Looking For:
12. Previous knowledge or experience with textiles and leather (not essential).
13. Previous knowledge or experience working in a commercial testing laboratory (not essential).
14. Membership of the Society of Shoe Fitters (MSSF) (not essential).
15. Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with colleagues.
16. Positive attitude with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment reflecting the high sample volume of this market-leading commercial laboratory.
17. Adherence to the highest standards of precision, accuracy and record-keeping for maintaining our UKAS accreditation for a wide range of methods.
18. Initiative and an ability to multi-task and plan work effectively to meet strict deadlines
19. Competence in using Microsoft Office software.
20. Requirements for shoe fitting the individual will be asked to do an Enhanced DBS and must have a full driving license, access to a vehicle will be provided.
21. A flexible approach to working additional hours when required
