Job Title: Medical Secretary Mental Health

Role Summary:
Join our Mental Health Services team as a Medical Secretary. You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive secretarial, administrative and patient coordination services for Consultant Psychiatrists and associated medical staff who run outreach clinics across Argyll and Bute. The position is part of a team of Medical Secretaries and includes covering for other secretaries during annual or sick leave. Work hours are 21 hours over 4 days.
Responsibilities
* Provide confidential administrative support to psychiatrists and medical staff.
* Co‑ordinate patient appointments, triage queries and manage patient information systems such as TrakCare PMS and SciStore.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2003, where required.
* Support the day‑to‑day functions of the clinic, including photocopying, filing, and communication with other departments.
* Cover for other secretaries during absences, ensuring continuity of service.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Significant secretarial experience with strong office skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, e‑mail, hospital intranet, TrakCare PMS, and similar systems.
* Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Knowledge of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2003 is an advantage.
* Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
* Self‑motivated and willing to take initiative.
