About You
You need to have a friendly, approachable, and passionate approach in supporting adult learners. You don’t need teaching experiencejust a willingness to help others and a positive attitude. Flexibility is important, as classes may vary in location and learner needs. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in adult education, meet new people, and make a real difference in your community. All Talk English volunteers are required to complete a short training programme to help them understand their role and feel confident supporting adult learners in ESOL classes before they begin volunteering.
About Us
Talk English Rochdale supports adults with low levels of English to improve their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills through free, tutor-led ESOL classes held in local venues across the borough. Volunteers play a vital role in helping learners build confidence and participate fully in sessions, working alongside qualified teachers to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference, gain experience in adult education, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
A Talk English volunteer training session will be held on Monday 8th September for anyone interested in supporting adult learners in ESOL classes across Rochdale.
