Job Title: Data Centre Engineering Operations Technician
Job Description
The Engineering Operations Technician position serves as the on-site maintenance technician and operator for a data centre. This role is integral in operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre. The technician acts as a technical resource to ensure equipment supporting mission-critical servers maintains better than uptime, while also driving innovation and reducing operational costs.
Responsibilities
1. Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment within the data centre.
2. Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events in line with internal service level agreements.
3. Perform maintenance tasks including filter changes, HVAC preventative maintenance, rack power installs, rack PDU, and rack ATS replacements.
4. Provide support to Data Centre Operations technicians.
5. Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures.
6. Ensure adherence to all safety procedures while performing work duties.
7. Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds, logging temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.
8. Utilise the internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare part inventory.
9. Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventative maintenance.
10. Respond to off-hour emergency calls as per on-call rotation for regional sites.
11. Comply fully with all physical security procedures and policies.
Essential Skills
12. Experience in HVAC systems, electrical maintenance, and facilities upkeep.
13. Proficiency in data centre operations and equipment maintenance.
14. Ability to perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
15. Capability to collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts.
16. Experience in managing workflows and inventory using CMMS.
