We are supporting a major global insurance organisation undergoing a large‐scale transformation of its commercial insurance operations. As part of the global implementation of a new end‐to‐end Platform, we are seeking a Business Owner – Underwriting to represent the underwriting function throughout this multi‐year transformation programme.
This is a pivotal role, acting as the voice of underwriting across product, pricing, policy admin, claims, finance, and broader technology and business change workstreams. You will ensure underwriting requirements are captured, prioritised, built correctly, and fully aligned to strategic objectives across multiple Lines of Business.
Key Responsibilities
Build Prioritisation & Delivery
* Own and prioritise underwriting build requirements across the programme.
* Act as the primary point of contact between underwriting teams and programme squads.
* Ensure alignment with the Head of Line of Business and strategic underwriting objectives.
Testing & Stakeholder Collaboration
* Oversee testing of new platform functionality from an underwriting perspective.
* Review business scenarios, validate test outcomes, and ensure completeness and quality.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to enable smooth delivery.
Requirements Management
* Maintain oversight of underwriting-related business requirements at a high level.
* Pre-align requirements with other Business Owners and escalate as needed.
* Ensure requirements are consistent, harmonised, and designed for reusability.
Cross-Functional Review & Harmonisation
* Evaluate incoming requirements from other business functions.
* Confirm compatibility with underwriting processes and programme objectives.
* Advocate for harmonisation across workflows, products, and processes.
Workshops & Cross-Programme Engagement
* Attend and/or organise key workshops to represent underwriting.
* Actively contribute to decision-making, alignment sessions, and design forums.
Squad Representation & Process Alignment
* Participate in squad meetings as the underwriting representative.
* Ensure underwriting processes are fully considered in all design and build activities.
* Identify cross-process impacts and drive consistency across Lines of Business.
Rollout, Training & Change Management
* Lead Line of Business communication and change readiness activities.
* Coordinate SMEs, training needs, and go‐live preparation.
* Act as a key conduit between the underwriting community and the programme.
Skills & Experience Required
* Strong underwriting background within commercial insurance.
* Experience working in large-scale transformation, ideally technology-enabled change.
* Ability to translate underwriting needs into system and process requirements.
* Confident in engaging senior stakeholders and driving cross-functional alignment.
* Comfortable operating in agile, multi-squad delivery environments.
* Excellent workshop, communication, and decision-making skills.
