Main Purpose of Role The Integration Specialist is responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, and fault diagnosis of complex systems during the final build phase of the Boxer Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV). This includes weapon, communication, and navigation systems. The role is vital in ensuring systems are seamlessly integrated and fully operational within the vehicle platform at the Stockport-based facility. Key Responsibilities Install and configure specialist systems (e.g. weapons, navigation, communication) into the Boxer MIV. Perform functional testing, static checks, and system validation. Execute in-depth fault-finding and diagnostics to ensure full system integration. Safely operate and manoeuvre military vehicles on site to facilitate integration and testing. Handle and fit restricted or sensitive equipment with full compliance to security procedures. Collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers, and third-party contractors to resolve integration issues. Raise process concerns and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Complete all documentation, including inspection sheets and SAP entries. Support performance verification and acceptance testing, including GQAR-monitored activities. Comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards and site policies. Qualifications & Education Essential: Minimum Grade C in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) Valid UK Driving Licence Desirable: Technical training or qualifications related to vehicle systems, electronics, or defence systems integration Experience Essential: Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or assembly environment Experience working with or around military vehicles Exposure to military system integration (e.g. communications, navigation, weapons) Proficient in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (intermediate level) Experience using data systems and willingness to learn internal platforms (e.g. SAP) Desirable: Prior experience handling or configuring secure and restricted systems Knowledge of acceptance test procedures and MoD standards Skills & Attributes Excellent communication skills at all levels Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities Able to work to deadlines with minimal supervision High attention to detail and accuracy in system installation Collaborative mindset with the ability to liaise across departments and suppliers Capable of remaining calm and solution-focused under pressure Proactive, self-starting, and able to take initiative Good listening and questioning techniques Motivated to deliver and contribute to ongoing team success Performance Measures Accuracy and completeness of system integration and documentation Timely fault resolution and successful system testing outcomes Positive contribution to continuous improvement and engineering feedback High standard of compliance with safety, quality, and data protocols
