We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming and forward-thinking special school in Eccles. Our school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for pupils aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping every learner build confidence, develop positive relationships, and achieve their potential.
About the Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
Support students in lessons, helping them to engage with learning and manage their emotions positively.
Work closely with class teachers and the pastoral team to create calm, structured, and inspiring learning spaces.
Deliver small-group or 1:1 interventions to develop social skills, emotional regulation, and academic progress.
Build trusting relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model at all times.
Contribute to the wider life of the school, promoting inclusion, respect, and wellbeing.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs (in a school or youth setting).
Demonstrates empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills.
Can stay calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations.
Is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning.
Holds relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) - desirable but not essential.
