Primex Plastics Corporation is one of the largest custom extruded plastic sheet producers in the country, with eight manufacturing facilities from coast to coast. We manufacture a broad range of plastic sheet for a wide variety of industries.We are currently seeking a professional Cost Accounting Analyst to be based out of our Richmond, IN, Headquarters, or our location in Oakwood, GA, that will support all eight plants in the United States.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, preferably plastics extrusion.This role will lead the financial side of our ERP transition and will work closely with Finance, Operations, and IT teams to develop, maintain, and analyze cost accounting data, while also serving as a subject matter expert in the implementation of our ERP system.This dual role combines traditional cost accounting duties with ERP project support, requiring strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, and experience in systems transitions.
This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with the ability to work from home up to two days per week. During the first six months of the position, expect up to one week per month of overnight travel. After 6 months, overnight travel will average around 10%, supporting our other plant locations. Training will take place at our Richmond, IN Headquarters during the first two weeks after hire.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain accurate cost standards for raw materials, labor, and overhead specific to plastics extrusion process
* Analyze production costs and variances, investigate variances and identify root causes to drive process and profitability improvements
* Maintain and reconcile inventory valuation, standard costing, and cost roll-ups, ensuring compliance with GAAP
* Partner with engineering and operations to evaluate and refine Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routings
* Prepare periodic and ad hoc margin and cost analysis reports for management decision-making
* Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
* Serve as the finance lead on the Dynamics ERP implementation team, specifically focusing on the costing, inventory, and manufacturing modules
* Assist with system configuration, data validation, UAT testing, and go-live readiness from a financial standpoint
* Ensure accurate mapping of cost structures and processes within Dynamics to reflect real-time operations
* Train internal stakeholders on cost-related functions in the new ERP system and provide ongoing support post-launch
* Travel to manufacturing facilities on an as needed basis
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA a plus
* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, preferably plastics extrusion
* Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP (D365 or AX) is preferred
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in managing complex cost structures and variances
* Proficiency in Excel and experience working with large datasets
* Excellent cross-functional communication and project management abilities
