Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner

Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) invites applications for a Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team at RAF Brize Norton. The post is full time (37.5 hours per week) with flexibile/flexible working arrangements considered based on business needs.

Main duties

* Provide a timely and high-quality mental health service to all patients referred to the Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) for assessment and treatment of mental health presentations.
* Engage in a wide variety of clinical work within your qualifications, stretching your capabilities as appropriate.
* Act as a clinical resource with liaison to Medical Officers/General Practitioners and offer advice to the chain of command on mental health matters, including administrative management of personnel with mental health difficulties and mental health promotion.
* Work flexibly within 37.5 hours per week, with core service hours 8am–5pm, across a networked service as required.
* Provide training in assessment and formulation and other CBT-based practices to the team.
* Deputise for the team manager and exercise delegated professional management of the team as required.
* Ensure clinical outcome data is entered and collated; lead service evaluation, outcome measurement, audits and research projects to benefit service users.


Selection Process

Further Information

Person Specification

Qualifications

* Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist (OT) with post-graduate training and accreditation in NICE-recognised modality for common mental disorders (e.g., CBT) OR significant experience as a psychological therapy practitioner in a stepped-care service with registration (e.g., HCPC) and accreditation (e.g., BABCP).

Registrations and Memberships

* Registered with the relevant professional body (NMC, Social Work England, HCPC/BABCP as applicable). Provide your membership registration number and ensure registration is current prior to applying.

Experience

* Experience of working in adult community mental health.
* Interest in working with the military.
* Desirable: clinical leadership; leading quality improvement programmes; post-qualification training in supervision.
