Salary: £ - £105 per day based on experience

About the role:
Hays Education is seeking a dedicated and patient SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEMH needs in a school setting. Working closely with the child, you will be responsible for implementing tailored strategies to foster positive emotional and social development while managing challenging behaviours effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing one-to-one support for a child with SEMH needs, ensuring their emotional and educational needs are met.
* Establishing a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil to promote positive engagement in learning.
* Managing challenging behaviours, including physical outbursts, using appropriate de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
* Collaborating with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to create individualised plans for the pupil’s progress.
* Assisting with the delivery of bespoke learning activities tailored to the child’s needs, abilities, and interests.
* Maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for the pupils and addressing their Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
The ideal candidate would have:
* Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviours, preferably in an educational setting.
* At least Level 2 qualified
* Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate physical situations calmly and effectively.
* A caring and empathetic approach, combined with resilience and adaptability to handle difficult situations.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills to liaise with colleagues and external professionals.
* An understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
