Job Title: Maintenance Manager (Hands-On)

About the Role
We are looking for a highly practical and hands-on Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations across several sites in East London. This is not a desk-based management role — you will be expected to lead from the front, actively carrying out maintenance tasks while coordinating works across multiple locations.
The successful candidate will ensure that all properties are maintained to a high standard, respond quickly to issues, and manage planned and reactive maintenance. This role suits someone who enjoys problem solving, working with tools, and taking ownership of site standards.
Key Responsibilities

Manage maintenance across multiple sites in East London
*
Carry out hands-on repairs and maintenance including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building repairs
*
Diagnose and resolve maintenance issues quickly and efficiently
*
Coordinate and supervise external contractors when required
*
Implement and manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
*
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
*
Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
*
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure properties remain in excellent condition
*
Respond to urgent maintenance issues across sites when needed
Requirements
*
Proven experience in a maintenance manager, facilities manager, or senior maintenance role
*
Strong multi-trade practical skills (plumbing, carpentry, basic electrics, general repairs)
*
Experience managing maintenance across multiple properties or sites
*
Ability to troubleshoot problems and work independently
*
Good organisational and communication skills
*
Full UK driving licence (essential)
*
Comfortable being both hands-on and responsible for oversight of works
Desirable
*
Experience within property management, hospitality, student accommodation, or residential portfolios
*
Health & Safety or Facilities Management qualifications (IOSH, NEBOSH, etc.)
