ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction process—working closely with the commercial and operations teams to deliver accurate, competitive, and compelling tenders. Your ability to analyse drawings, specifications, and project requirements will directly influence the business’s continued success in securing work.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for a variety of construction projects, including new builds, refurbishments, and fit-outs
2. Analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations for accuracy and value
3. Work collaboratively with the Pre-Construction Manager and Directors to develop winning bid strategies
4. Attend site visits and client meetings as required
5. Contribute to risk assessments and value engineering processes
6. Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants
7. Assist in the handover to the delivery team post-contract award
The ideal candidate will have:
8. Proven experience as an Estimator within the UK construction industry
9. Solid understanding of design and build projects, particularly within industrial, logistics, commercial, or retail sectors
10. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
11. Proficient with estimating software (such as Conquest, Causeway, or similar)
12. Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
13. Excellent communication and time management skills
REQUIREMENTS
You will need to have a degree in either Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
2–5 years of experience as an Estimator within Construction
UK Driving License
