Job Description Programme Manager Full time Derby What you will be doing The Trent XWB are looking for a Programme Manager to join our value stream team. The Trent XWB programme is our most successful product with over 1200 engines in service, over 60 customers and amassed over 20 million hours of operation over 9 years in service. In the value stream, we support the end-to-end product lifecycle, with teams in engineering and project management ensuring that we resolve safety issues quickly, understand issues in service, their root cause and ultimately the fix in support of our customers. Our teams in fleet management ensure our products are maintained in line with requirements and that parts and engines flow smoothly through our facilities and our contract management teams ensure that our contracts remain competitive and drive the best value for Rolls-Royce. As Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the day to execution of projects and programmes assigned to you, which as part of the value stream team cover a wide range of exciting and challenging programmes. Some examples of the sorts of projects you may manage could relate to the resolution of in-service problems related to safety, supply chain obsolescence or customer related problems, through product change packages, the improvement of our Time on Wing through improvements to life management plans, or cost reductions to achieve our target of break even on new products. As such, this role provides a great opportunity for ambitious and motivated project professionals to expand their experience in a challenging and high impact environment. Responsibilities Understand the strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring that there is an alignment of the suite of projects to support the business objectives. Define and phase programme tranches (projects and other related work) to achieve programme benefits. Lead the integration across all projects and organisational boundaries to deliver outcomes and benefits related to the organisation's strategic objectives. Responsible for delivering & monitoring the benefits realisation through the project deliverables / associated tranches Manage risks associated with internal and external environments Manage the co-ordination between component projects and the synchronisation of dependencies Manage programme change, such as cancelling projects or changing scope of projects to react to changes in organisation's strategy Monitor, control and manage overall programme performance to address deviations from plan in line with company standard processes. Influence and manage key programme stakeholders' expectations (internal and external) and engage their support Maintain communications with stakeholders and the programme organisation including status reporting to senior stakeholders as defined in the project governance structure for the project Ensure all programme team members have clearly defined roles and responsibilities Ensure compliance to functional standards and policies are adhered to across the programme Lead, coach and motivate programme team, including setting up, developing and evaluating team performance where appropriate. Support the team in planning and prioritisation of programme teamwork. Promote and sustain high performance culture and programme management professionalism throughout the business and/or function. Ideally a member of a professional body or working to achieve appropriate level of qualification (IPMA Level B qualification equivalent for the region) Ideally have 10 years or more experience in the management of programmes / projects of increasing complexity. Ideally worked in a programme environment Ideally has experience in all stages of a programme lifecycle and has been responsible for the delivery of one or more of those stages. Exposure to non-core programme management roles such as purchasing, commercial, engineering management etc would be an advantage. Ideally will have experience of setting up and managing multi-functional teams.
