1. To take personal responsibility for identifying own training needs for mandatory and statutory training, to discuss these with line manager ensuring that appropriate dates are attended.
2. To actively contribute to the implementation of the infection control policy, which will involve scrupulous personal hand washing and teaching others to do the same.
3. Strict adherence to universal precautions, and teaching other staff and the public to do the same.
4. Strict following of screening isolation and decontamination regimes and ensuring that others do the same.

10. Inputs data using computerised record system as directed by supervising nurse.

Main duties of the job
14. After appropriate training and assessment undertakes a range of basic observations and personal care under the supervision and direction of the supervising nurse., i.e. recording observations, Electrocardiogram recordings, application of plaster of Paris backslabs, removal of plaster of Paris, ward urinalysis test, sweat test and blood glucose monitoring.
15. Undertakes routine recordings of height, weight and blood pressure on all children attending out patient clinics, recording the information in the patient records.
16. Articulates concerns about the welfare/well-being of any child to a registered nurse immediately.
17. Awareness of emergency procedures and how to activate them when needed.
18. Maintains the privacy and dignity of children and carers.
19. Escorts well children and their families to other departments at the direction of the supervising nurse.
20. Participates in programmes of play/education applicable to the clinical environment.
21. Can procure and safely send off clinical specimens as requested by nurse/doctor.
22. Able to care for children from birth to 19 years including those with additional needs.
23. To have an awareness of Knowledge and skills to practise at a basic level in the six areas of expertise set out in ‘Common Core of Skills and Knowledge for the Children’s Workforce’ (HM Government 2005) Learning and Development
24. Attends statutory and mandatory training days as required by UHSussex.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. 25. NHS experience or NHS primary care experience is required or an internationally educated nurse/midwife/doctor who has worked in an acute hospital setting within recent years
26. Care Certificate from an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation. OR international qualification e.g overseas nursing degree
27. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills acquisition, working at a higher-level standard of care delivery, equivalent to vocational qualification level 3. This is evidenced via a portfolio of practice and/or a professional discussion
Desirable criteria
28. Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support or Health and Social Care or relevant equivalent (or Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship standard in Clinical Healthcare Support, Health & Social Care or relevant equivalent qualification)
29. Maths GCSE (grade C or above or grade 4 to 9) or Maths Level 2 functional skill
30. English GCSE (grade C or above or grade 4 to 9) or English Level 2 Functional skill
