We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Level 1 Teaching Assistants to join our team in Pontefract, supporting learners across our Communication, Independence, and Post-16 pathways. Our school caters to students with a range of SEN, primarily those with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Communication & Language needs, and some associated with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The ideal candidate: Is proactive, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting teaching, learning, and the personal development of students. Has strong communication skills, is flexible, adaptable, cheerful, calm, and able to work effectively within a team. Has prior experience working with SEN learners (preferred) – particularly ASC, SLD, or SEMH. Uses strong classroom communication strategies and a nurturing, aspirational approach to behaviour support. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small-group academic and emotional support to learners. Attend to pupils’ personal needs and implement personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters. Support learners with emotional regulation, engagement, and sensory needs (full training provided). Assist learners with complex medical needs, with training provided as required.
