Futures recruitment is looking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Manager to act as the go to person at a well known manufacturing business based in West Yorkshire. This role is suited to a highly capable, hands-on professional with strong electrical and mechanical bias, deep knowledge of hydraulic systems, and proven experience maintaining press machinery. This individual will be the first point of escalation for all engineering issues, setting the technical standard on site while ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and continuous improvement across maintenance operations. Roles & Responsibilities Act as the go-to technical expert on site, providing hands-on support and leadership across all maintenance activities Lead, develop, and support the maintenance team, setting clear expectations and technical best practice Plan and manage preventative and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and maximise equipment availability Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults, particularly on press machinery Take ownership of all hydraulic systems, including fault finding, upgrades, and optimisation Oversee machinery installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement projects Ensure full compliance with health & safety, statutory inspections, and site procedures Liaise with production, engineering, and external suppliers to ensure operational continuity Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts, and contractor activity where required The ideal Candidate Strong electrical and mechanical bias with proven hands-on experience Extensive knowledge of hydraulics, including press systems and high-pressure equipment Demonstrable experience working on press machines (mechanical and/or hydraulic) Strong fault-finding skills across electrical panels, motors, drives, PLCs (preferred), and mechanical assemblies Experience implementing preventative maintenance systems and improving reliability Natural problem-solver who thrives under pressure Confident decision-maker and trusted technical authority Hands-on leadership style — leads by example on the tools when required Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively at all levels Organised, proactive, and improvement-driven Recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent) Proven experience in a Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, or Senior Engineer role Manufacturing, industrial, or heavy engineering background preferred
