Cloud Operations Engineer
The Cloud Operations Engineer is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and support of cloud-hosted environments across AWS and Azure. They ensure customer platforms and applications are secure, stable, and performant, supporting both day-to-day service operations and major transformation projects.
This role is hands-on, working closely with Cloud Architecture, DevOps, and IT Operations teams to deliver highly available and compliant cloud services for multiple customers.
Responsibilities
* Monitor, maintain, and support AWS and Azure environments
* Handle incidents, service requests, and operational changes via ServiceNow
* Perform patching, updates, and backup/recovery across cloud environments
* Support COTS platform environments in the cloud
* Contribute to automation of operational tasks using scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
* Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and security
* Implement monitoring and alerting solutions
* Work with Cloud Architecture on environment design and handover
* Support DevOps and release processes, including CI/CD pipelines
* Collaborate with Security, technical, and Business Solutions teams to ensure service quality
* Ensure adherence to ITIL processes (incident, problem, change)
* Maintain compliance with security and regulatory standards
* Contribute to audit, reporting, and SLA tracking
Skills
* Hands on experience with AWS and/or Azure operations
* Knowledge of cloud networking, storage, and security
* Familiarity with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Terraform, CloudFormation)
* Understanding of ITSM processes and use of tools such as ServiceNow and/or Jira
* Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
* Ability to work across multiple customer environment with varying requirements
Experience
* 3-6+ years in cloud operations, system administration or technical operations
* Experience with AWS and/or Azure (certification desirable: AWS SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator Associate)
* Familiarity with various COTS platforms
* ITIL Foundation or similar service management qualification desirable
