We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-site Building Engineer in HMP Sudbury.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, 8am – 5pm (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place). There is a need to work 1 in 3 weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).
The base salary is between £27,448 - £30,448 dependant on experience.

The General Building Engineer plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.
What you will do:
* Ensuring availability of critical parts for statutory tasks and managing remedial tasks in the CAFM system.
* Performing general and semi-skilled maintenance activities, including security systems like CCTV and alarms.
* Conducting monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, fire hydrants, and hoses.
* Completing quarterly RCD testing and inspect Misting Units.
* Maintaining fire doors and performing flushing and tap temperature tests as per water risk assessments.
* Undertaking monthly and annual emergency lighting checks.
* Checking and testing smoke vents as required.
* Carrying out any other duties as required.
What you will bring:
* Experienced in multiple areas of maintenance such as: Fire; Door Maintenance, Extinguisher Maintenance and Alarm Core Points
* Emergency Lighting
* RCD
* Water Temperature Testing
* IT skills
