We're looking for an experienced SQL DBA to support a range of secure government platforms. You'll work within a skilled technical team to deliver reliable, high‑performing database services across Microsoft SQL Server environments, with additional exposure to PostgreSQL and MySQL.
Day to day, you'll handle installation, configuration, patching and maintenance, plus performance tuning, monitoring, and health checks. You'll own backup and recovery processes, high‑availability solutions, and troubleshooting of complex database issues. You'll also support developers with database design, schema improvements and optimised SQL.
The role involves improving performance through indexing strategies, query optimisation and capacity planning, as well as maintaining strong security controls such as encryption, auditing and role‑based access. You'll contribute to data migrations, integrations, and automation using scripting tools like PowerShell, Bash or Python.
You'll work across on‑prem and cloud environments, supporting best practice for platforms including Azure SQL and AWS RDS. Some on‑call work is required as part of BAU support.
We're looking for someone with at least five years' hands‑on SQL Server experience in production or secure environments, plus working knowledge of PostgreSQL and MySQL. Strong T‑SQL and a deep understanding of database internals are essential.
