Description
We are seeking a reliable Class 2 HGV Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. This role requires a strong commitment to safety and excellent driving skills.
Physical fitness is required due to heavy lifting. You will have a porter to assist moving deliveries into the customers room of choice.
8 hours daily
Working days Tuesday to Saturday. Start times between 6am - 7am
You will be delivering to various locations across the South West on a daily basis.
This is an ad-hoc position but Backline can supply other assignments if you require additional hours.
6 months experience of Class 2 driving required. 6 points maximum (no drink or drug convictions)
A drug and alcohol will be test will be done on commencement of the first assignment and on random occasions.
Duties
1. Operate lorries to deliver goods to various locations.
2. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
3. Load and unload cargo, securing it properly for transport.
4. Delivery to various establishments, delivery to area or room of choice.
5. Maintain accurate delivery logs and records of vehicle maintenance.
6. Follow designated routes and schedules while being flexible to accommodate changes as needed.
7. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery status and any issues encountered on the road.
8. Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, promoting a culture of safety on the road.
Experience
9. Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar commercial driving role is preferred but not essential.
10. Familiarity with lorry operations is advantageous.
11. A valid commercial Class C driving licence is essential.
12. Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for transporting goods.
13. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively.
