Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust as the pharmacy lead for the care group of surgery and critical care.

This post would be suitable for an experience 8a that wishes to develop or those already working at 8b level. This post will offer exciting and challenging opportunities that can be tailored by the successful post holder.

Main duties of the job

To lead a team delivering patient centred medicines optimisation and clinical pharmacy to critical care and surgical patients.

To act as role model at local, regional and national level.

To identify and mitigate risks relating to medicines

To lead and develop audit, quality improvement and research within the clinical area and publish research outcomes.

To act as a non-medical prescriber

To ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory medicines legislation across the care group

Person specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential criteria

1. Registered Pharmacist: Member of the GPhC
2. Post-graduate diploma in clinically pharmacy or recognised equivalent
3. Independent Prescribing qualification (or willing to study for this)

Desirable criteria

4. Member of the RPS
5. RPS faculty Stage II accreditation
6. Education qualification

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria

7. Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy at a Post-Registration Pharmacist level.
8. Substantial experience in delivering pharmacy services across a broad range of specialties.
9. Demonstrable experience in providing clinical pharmacy services at a specialist level.
10. Experience in managing and delivering projects.
11. Significant experience in managing and supervising staff.
12. Proficient in conducting service audits and utilising performance indicators.
13. Experience working at Directorate Pharmacist level.
14. Extensive experience in teaching and tutoring.

Desirable criteria

15. Proven delivery of pharmacy services to critical care and surgical areas at a senior level.

Essential criteria

16. Capable of prioritising and managing personal workload.
17. Able to work, communicate, and provide effective leadership within a team.
18. Possesses clear and concise verbal and written communication skills to ensure effective liaison with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and carers, while maintaining accurate and legible records.
19. Demonstrates the ability to strategically develop services and evaluate service provision.
20. Skilled in influencing senior Pharmacy and hospital staff.
21. Able to recognise and adopt new ideas and advancements in clinical practice, implementing them under the guidance of superiors.
22. Displays a positive attitude, with the ability to identify and communicate the need for change, as well as actively participate in change management processes.
23. Capable of leading and motivating both staff and oneself.
24. Works effectively within teams at Departmental, Trust, or regional levels.
25. Competent in identifying and managing risks.
26. Willing to attend necessary training sessions for personal and service development.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Essential criteria

27. Able to travel to other sites within the Trust and to venues for training

PPE requirements: Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust requires all colleagues to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with our infection prevention and control procedures.
