Role Overview:
Are you an experienced nurse with a UK Registered PIN number looking to work at an outstanding trust and regional specialist haematology and oncology centre?
Would you like to work with a supportive team focused on delivering patient-centred care?
Would you like family-friendly hours and no night or weekend shifts?
The Outpatients department at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology (BHOC) centre has a vacancy for a Band 5 registered nurse, passionate about working in Cancer Care. The Outpatient service operates weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00, with some Bank Holidays. Shifts are allocated to support this service. You will need to have a passion and enthusiasm for oncology and haematology. The BHOC offers opportunities to develop your skills, with a strong research base, a large clinical trials team, and a commitment to training nursing staff. We are developing a staff wellbeing programme for the benefit of staff and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
* Communicate effectively, maintaining confidentiality with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team. Provide written and verbal advice/teaching to patients and carers.
* Supervise staff and students in the absence of senior staff; act as a mentor for learners and junior staff.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and contemporary records of care and treatment in line with UBHT record-keeping policy and NMC standards.
* Work within Trust policies and procedures, undertaking all necessary aspects of nursing care, including clinical skills gained through training.
* Promote a safe environment by administering medicines according to Trust policy, promoting cleanliness, and preventing infections.
* Respond promptly to resolve problems/issues for patients and carers, utilizing complaints procedures and PALS where appropriate.
* Assist with the smooth running of the clinical area by unpacking stores, tidying, and cleaning equipment.
* Work with senior nurses to develop management skills.
Please note that SACT training would be an advantage.
