Job summary


The Digital and Data division brings together the delivery, data, and user centred design functions within the directorate. Professionals within these functions work as part of agile and dynamic multi-disciplinary teams delivering products and services designed to meet the needs of users.


Job description


As a Senior Business Analyst within UKEF, the post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure digital change initiatives deliver solutions that meet UKEF business needs, objectives, as well as users' needs. They will be expected to provide the 'bridge' between the business and technology, acting as an advocate for the business whilst supporting the technology, development, and project management teams.

The post holder will actively contribute to the UKEF Business Analysis Community, be one of 4 Senior Business Analysts who report to the Lead Business Analyst and role model up-coming Business Analyst.

The role sits within the User Centre Design Team and you will be joining an inclusive and supportive team were BAs work in close collaboration with other UCD professions.

Main Activities:

A senior business analyst has a good understanding of strategic arenas and leads large or complex projects

The job holder will be expected to:

* Provide analysis support to change initiatives (project and non-project work whose objectives are to change the way the organisation uses technology to achieve their business goals).

* Engage stakeholders – at all levels of the business – to understand business goals, elicit requirements/user needs using various techniques such as holding workshops, carrying out interviews, job shadowing and other requirements gathering techniques.

* Challenge and document requirements/user needs so that all the necessary stakeholders – which includes business users, IT developers, IT testers and potentially external solution providers – can understand and use them to complete their responsibilities as part of the change initiative.

* Carry out an analysis of the functional and non-functional requirements (what the business wants to do and how they want to do it) in order to

* understand and advise on the impact of required change on existing systems.

* understand and advise on the potential changes to business roles, organisation and process.
* understand and advise on the impact on the corporate data.
* identify solution options.
* design new functionality.
* specify changes to existing functionality.
* potentially provide the information as a basis for an Invitation to Tender.

* Use a variety of techniques to model.

* Business processes.

* Data and the relationships between data entities.
* Business activities.

* Produce clear and concise:

* Problem statements.

* As-is and to-be processes.
* A clear statement of the impact on roles, function, and data.
* Potential solution options including costs and benefits.
* Statement of the impact of the change on the existing IT estate.

* Provide support to the development or procurement and quality assurance processes.

* Ensure recommended solutions are fully aligned with business requirements.

* Provide support to the Delivery Manager during scope and objectives definition as well as project estimation and planning.

* Provide expert level advice and guidance to Business Analysts and others in methods and approaches to requirements analysis and solution definition.

* Provide estimates for the work they carry out.

* Provide input on the definition of standards, guidance and methods for Business Analysis and associated areas.

* Formulate the strategy, approach, and techniques in order to elicit business requirements.

* Provide support for the definition and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture.

* Produce and maintain the appropriate documentation through the project and development lifecycle.

* Work and collaborate with researchers and designers

* Contribute to BA community of practice and lead community activities within a business area

* Provide ongoing support and liaison with business requirement stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring any new requirements or changes to requirements are dealt with according to change control processes.

* Contribute to the user centred design community.

Qualifications

* British Computer Society (BCS) certification in Business Analysis, equivalent or formally trained in business and systems analysis. (A)


Knowledge

* Business analysis. You can investigate problems and analyse options for new and existing services. You know how to provide recommendations to solutions. You can work with stakeholders to identify objectives, opportunities, and potential benefits available. (Relevant skill level: practitioner) (A, I)

Qualifications

* Business Process Modelling Notation certification.

Knowledge

* Knowledge of available commercial software. For example, financial systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, reporting and web publishing tools.


Experience

* Financial sector experience, worked as the Business Analyst on major projects which have had significant financial components.
* Use and understanding of:
* MS Client Server.
* MS SQL.
* Oracle/SQL server.
* Fidelity ACBS.
* Aptitude
* MS Office 365.
* MS Visio


Other requirements

* Chartered IT professional (CITP).
