Role Overview
This permanent 0.5 WTE Band 8A Applied Psychologist post is based within the HIV/Sexual Health Psychology Service at the Chalmers Centre in Edinburgh. The post is primarily responsible for the oversight and day‑to‑day operation of the HIV Psychology Service, including provision of Clinical Supervision to the Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology. It also provides support to the wider Sexual Health teams at Chalmers, including case consultation, reflective practice, teaching/training, audit, supervision of clinicians in the Choices team and consultation to the WISHES and Roam Outreach teams.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and manage the HIV Psychology Service, ensuring high quality clinical service delivery.
* Provide Clinical Supervision to the Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology.
* Offer case consultation/reflective practice and supervision of clinicians in the Choices team.
* Consult with the WISHES, Roam Outreach and wider Sexual Health teams on service improvement and training.
* Collaborate with the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit and specialist HIV mental health colleagues at the Western General Hospital.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Eligibility to hold a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult).
* Completion of the appropriate criminal record check in line with evolving legislation (PVG Scheme and/or Disclosure Scotland).
* Relevant clinical and psychological qualifications at Band 8A level or equivalent professional experience.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and provide high quality supervision.
Salary and Working Hours
The post is part‑time with a salary pro‑rata to 0.5 WTE. Following the Agenda for Change review, there will be a slight reduction in weekly hours from 37 to 36, with a corresponding increase in the hourly rate to maintain equivalent pay.
