Business Development Manager – Flat Roofing (EPDM Systems)


Reporting to: Managing Director

Locations:

- Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey

- Bristol Area

- Manchester Area

- Southeastern Scotland


Our client is a market‑leading UK distributor of premium flat roofing systems, renowned for quality and technical expertise. They’re looking for driven Business Development Managers to spearhead growth of their EPDM flat roofing range within the residential (and commercial) construction sectors, selling to builders’ merchants / stockists and smaller roofing contractors.


This is a field‑based role that combines new business development with account management, offering the opportunity to take ownership of under resourced / marketed territory and build partnerships with contractors, stockists and specifiers.


Key Responsibilities

* Identify and win new business across roofing contractors and stockists.
* Promote EPDM membranes and system components.
* Develop and deliver a structured sales plan to achieve ambitious growth targets.
* Strengthen key contractor and distributor accounts through long‑term collaboration.
* Track project pipelines from specification through to order and delivery.
* Deliver CPDs, technical presentations, and hands‑on product demonstrations.
* Provide sound technical advice on installation best practices, compliance, and system suitability.
* Analyse competitor activity and market trends, sharing insights with senior management.
* Collaborate with internal teams — technical, estimating, marketing, and operations — to support promotions and project success.


Experience and Skills

Essential

* At least 3 years’ experience in construction materials sales.
* Proven success selling flat roofing or single‑ply systems.
* Strong technical knowledge of EPDM membranes.
* Experienced in working with contractors and merchants.
* Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and closing skills.
* Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

* Experience with leading EPDM brands or systems.
* Familiarity with flat roofing and single‑ply compliance standards.
* Established network within the roofing and building envelope sectors.
