Senior structural Engineer (hybrid)
Are you looking for a senior structural engineering role that doesn’t include hands on design?
You will play a key role in assessing and advising on the structural condition of existing buildings. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team including fire engineers, building surveyors and architects, you will investigate structural defects, analyse building performance and provide clear engineering recommendations.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Carrying out structural condition surveys and site inspections
* Leading intrusive investigations and opening-up works
* Diagnosing structural defects and identifying root causes
* Producing technical structural reports and assessments
* Supporting FRAEW, PAS 9980 and Building Safety Case submissions
* Undertaking feasibility studies and remediation options appraisals
* Providing structural advice on refurbishment, strengthening and remediation projects
* Reviewing contractor or specialist structural designs
* Working closely with clients and project teams to provide clear engineering advice
The role focuses primarily on assessment, reporting and advisory work on existing structures, with occasional concept-level structural design relating to strengthening or refurbishment.
Experience Required
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Ideally Chartered (IStructE / ICE) or demonstrable experience of working as a senior structural engineer
* Experience with existing buildings, refurbishment or remediation projects
* Strong background in structural inspections, investigations and technical reporting
* Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes and CDM
* Experience supporting building safety work such as FRAEW or PAS 9980 would be advantageous
* Experience assessing medium or high-rise buildings
* Familiar with structural engineering software such as TEDDS, Tekla or similar
* Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical findings clearly
