Risk and Safety Compliance Advisor (Hiring Immediately), Stevenage
This role involves nationwide travel and is based in Stevenage. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing health, safety, and environmental risk strategies, ensuring compliance with ISO standards, and promoting a positive safety culture within Smiths News.
Responsibilities
* Implement and oversee health, safety, and environmental risk strategies as directed by the Head of Safety & Risk.
* Manage ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
* Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture, including road transport and operational yard safety at company and third-party locations.
* Maintain and develop company health and safety policies, training programs, and audit procedures.
* Lead initiatives on Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness to embed positive behaviors across the organization.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders such as HSE, DVSA, local authorities, and trade bodies to ensure safety compliance and foster positive relationships.
* Investigate incidents and accidents thoroughly, escalate severity appropriately, and liaise with emergency services and media when necessary.

Candidate Requirements
* Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
* Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
* Auditing qualifications and experience
* Environmental risk management qualifications
* Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence at senior levels
* A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
