The Opportunity
We're looking for a capable and enthusiastic Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D and 3D design work for our CO₂ refrigeration and heat pump systems, supporting the full project lifecycle from concept to manufacturing.
This role would suit someone with a background in refrigeration or thermal systems, but we also welcome applications from mechanical design engineers in related fields who are keen to develop in this sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings using Autodesk software (AutoCAD and Inventor)
* Develop mechanical layouts, piping schematics, general assemblies, and fabrication drawings
* Prepare and manage technical documentation including BOMs, datasheets, and revision control
* Support senior engineers with system design, component selection, and concept development
* Ensure designs comply with industry standards and internal quality procedures
* Work closely with internal teams to ensure accurate and efficient project delivery
* Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in design, quality, and performance
What We're Looking For
* Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor (2D and 3D design essential)
* A good understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing methods
* Engineering qualification (HND, Degree) or equivalent industry experience
* Experience in refrigeration, HVAC, or thermal systems would be a strong advantage
* (but not essential if you bring strong transferable skills and a desire to learn)
* Strong attention to detail and an organised, methodical approach
* Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a collaborative team
* A proactive mindset and a willingness to take on new technical challenges
* A genuine interest in energy efficiency, sustainability, or thermal engineering
