At Guild Care, we’re on the lookout for an experienced and enthusiastic Shop Manager to lead our Hove Store on George Street. This isn’t just any retail role – it’s your chance to combine your passion for retail with a purpose-driven mission to support your local community.

* Location: Hove, Brighton

* Hours: 37.5 per week


What You’ll Be Doing

As our Shop Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our retail operations. Your mission: to transform our shop into a vibrant hub for customers and donors alike. You’ll:

* Lead the day-to-day buzz of the shop — from managing stock and donations to creating eye-catching displays that keep customers coming back for more!

* Organise furniture collections and deliveries - working closely with the Furniture Scheme team to keep things moving smoothly.

* Keep things secure and running like clockwork — from tills and banking to balancing budgets and smashing sales targets.

* Recruit, inspire, and support - a brilliant team of volunteers and Deputy Managers, creating a fun, friendly, and high-performing shop environment.

* Be creative with events and promotions - helping to bring energy and excitement to the shop floor!

* Champion amazing customer service - make sure the shop is always safe, tidy, and welcoming, while staying on top of admin, policies, and training.

About The Company


Our story

Guild Care was founded in Worthing in 1933 by visionary volunteers dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals in the local community. Originally known as Worthing Council of Social Service, the organisation focused on alleviating poverty, isolation, and health challenges during difficult times. Over the following decades, Guild Care consistently expanded its services, proactively responding to the community's evolving needs.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Guild Care established innovative day centres and residential care homes, significantly enhancing life quality for older adults and individuals with disabilities. Adapting continually, the charity later introduced specialised dementia care facilities and tailored services for those with learning disabilities.

Today, Guild Care supports over 3,000 people annually across West Sussex through a range of community-focused services. Remaining true to its founding values, the organisation is one of Worthing's largest employers, powered by almost 700 dedicated staff members and the essential contributions of more than 300 volunteers, all united in making a meaningful difference.

Desired Criteria

* Charity shop or volunteer management experience.
* Strong organisational and planning skills.

Required Criteria

* Proven retail or store management experience with a track record of hitting sales targets.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* IT-savvy, flexible, and ready to roll up your sleeves.
* A can-do attitude and the ability to work independently.
