About the Role
We’re looking for a mobile app developer who is exceptional at UX, someone who thinks in flows,
behaviours, and user intent before thinking in code.
You'll be working on a high-traffic dating app.
This is not a role for someone who just “implements designs”.
You will shape the product experience, define interaction patterns, and then build them.
If you care more about how an app feels than how clever the architecture is, this role is for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Product & UX (Primary Focus ~60%)
* Designing end-to-end mobile experiences: onboarding, core flows, edge cases, empty states
* Turning vague ideas into clear, intuitive user journeys
* Creating low-fidelity wireframes and interaction concepts (Figma, sketches, or equivalent)
* Challenging requirements when they harm usability
* Iterating quickly based on feedback and real user behaviour
* Obsessing over micro-interactions, spacing, hierarchy, and perceived performance
Mobile Development (Secondary Focus ~40%)
* Building and shipping production mobile apps for iOS and Android
* Translating UX decisions into clean, maintainable code
* Working pragmatically — shipping > perfection
* Collaborating closely with a founder/product lead
* Maintaining and iterating on an existing app (not greenfield only)
What We Care About Most
You must:
* Have a strong UX instinct — you can explain why something should work a certain way
* Think in user goals, not just screens
* Be comfortable owning both design decisions and implementation
* Have shipped at least one real mobile app used by real users
* Be opinionated but open to iteration
We care less about:
* Fancy architecture
* Perfect test coverage
* Using the “trendiest” framework
Technical Expectations
You should be comfortable with at least one of:
* Swift / SwiftUI (iOS)
* React Native or similar cross-platform frameworks
You do not need to be a platform purist - UX judgement matters more than native purity.
Nice to Have
* Experience designing without a dedicated designer
* Experience improving an existing UX rather than only building from scratch
* Familiarity with analytics and user feedback loops
* Interest in product strategy beyond tickets and tasks
What This Role Is Not
* Not a ticket-driven feature factory
* Not a “designer hands you mocks, you implement” role
* Not greenfield - this is a busy app, incremental improvement rather than massive overhaul is the order of the day
How We Work
* Small team, fast iteration
* Direct access to decision-makers
* Minimal process, high trust
* Strong bias toward shipping and learning
* Very generous salary
How to Apply
When applying, please include:
* Links to apps you’ve shipped and your role in shaping the UX
* Any UX work, wireframes, or product thinking you can share
* A short note explaining what makes a great mobile UX in your opinion
