Sheet Metal Mechanic Purpose: Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for a Sheet Metal Mechanic who will be key in fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, such as vent ducting, compartment partitions, stowage, and counter spaces. The job is located in Norfolk Virginia. Job Description: Sets up and operates fabricating machines including shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. Shapes metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer. Sets up and operates soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts. Smooths seams, joints, or burred surfaces using files and portable grinder or buffer. Installs assemblies according to blueprints, engineering sketches, written instructions or manuals. Inspects assemblies and installations for conformance with specifications, using measuring instruments including calipers, scales, and micrometer. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members. Qualifications: Must have High school diploma or Trade School or equivalent with at least 3 years of related experience. Must have at least 3 years of related sheet-metal fabrication experience. Must have experience with confined spaces. Desired Qualifications: Have an active OSHA 10HR Certification Have or can obtain a passport Have experience with installation of Berthing and Heads Security Requirements: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards and naval installations Travel Requirements: Moderate Travel Required up to 50% If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), subject to noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions (affect the respiratory system), frequently work in close quarters and/or function in narrow aisles or passageways (areas that could cause claustrophobia).
